Be United’s Multi-Year Funding Announcement
This is a defining moment for Be United.
We are incredibly proud and excited to share that we’ve secured £559,829 in Multi-Year Funding from Creative Scotland, an investment that will power the next three years of our work to drive equity, innovation and creativity in Scotland’s arts sector.
This moment is more than just a funding milestone; it is a testament to years of dedication and resilience. This isn’t just about funding, it’s a moment of recognition for the work we’ve done – championing underrepresented talent and creating tangible pathways into Scotland’s cultural landscape. The journey here has been one of persistence, vision and a deep commitment to fostering a more inclusive creative industry.
We have worked tirelessly to build a dynamic ecosystem—one that bridges the gap between the Black Community, artists, collaborators, creatives and new audiences. We’ve challenged industry norms and carved out spaces where diverse talent can thrive. This funding is a recognition of that work and a catalyst for what comes next.
So, what does this mean for the future? Our Executive Director, Emma Sithole says – ‘I am delighted by the news that Be United are amongst the 251 organisations to secure MYF. It provides us with a stability over the next few years to do even more to serve our community and continue to advocate for increased equity within the Scottish creative sectors.”
Collin Hills , our Creative Director states – “This funding will allow us to scale our reach, extending our impact to new cities and communities across Scotland. It means increased capacity for more innovative programming, strengthening our operations and bringing more talent and more perspectives into Scotland’s cultural landscape.”
As Chair and on behalf of the board Louis Parker-Evans says – “Securing Multi-Year Funding means we’re not just surviving – we’re thriving. It’s a testament to the passion, hard work and relentless belief of this team and I couldn’t be prouder. The impact of Be United’s work has been rightfully recognised and with the backing of Creative Scotland, we have the opportunity to go even further. We feel incredibly lucky to stand alongside such a brilliant group of people and can’t wait to see what the next three years bring.”
Be United has always been about breaking barriers and building opportunities—and now, with Creative Scotland’s full backing, we’re stepping into the next chapter of our journey with renewed energy, ambition and purpose. To everyone who has been part of this journey—our artists, our community, our supporters—this achievement is yours as much as it is ours.
Join us as we embark on the next three years of brilliant, transformative work!
