Be United Presents: Rhythm and Bass – Be United is back at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for THREE extraordinary nights of live music and celebration!
Coming to Leith Arches on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of August, Be United will bring to the Fringe a celebration of the diaspora and African and Caribbean talent. With Afrobeats, Reggae, R&B and Hip-Hop, expect three nights of great live music and community spirit.
Caribbean Parlour will also be on-site to provide delicious food. The event is supported by Creative Scotland through the Multi-Year Funding Programme and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, which also contributes to our work.

Lanray X
I’m Lanray X, a Nigerian artist blending hip-hop, Afro rap, and alternative sounds to tell stories inspired by my experiences growing up in Lagos and navigating life in the UK. My music is rooted in honesty, culture, ambition, and self-expression — combining reflective lyricism with experimental production and raw energy.
Over the years, I’ve built my catalogue through a series of independent releases: Art Gallery Through My Pen (2017), AFD (2021), SET IT UP (2022), USB (2024), and NAUGHTY SOCIETY (2024). Each project represents a different stage of my growth as both an artist and storyteller, pushing my sound further while staying true to my identity and creative vision.
Sarinity Jones
Sarinity Jones is a dynamic and genre-blending artist hailing from Sheffield, UK, known for her powerful storytelling and boundary-pushing approach to music. Now based in Edinburgh, she seamlessly merges rap, soulful melodies, and captivating songwriting. Sarinity’s sound is an authentic reflection of her diverse cultural roots—drawing from both Jamaican and British heritage.
Her journey began with poetry, and over the years, she has evolved into a versatile artist capable of captivating audiences through both her vocal delivery and razor-sharp lyricism. Her lyrics are a blend of introspective reflection and unapologetic self-expression, resonating with listeners who crave real, meaningful connection through music. Inspired by icons like Foxy Brown, Lil’ Kim, and Mary J. Blige, Sarinity’s influences span across Motown, R&B, Hip-hop, and Funk, crafting a sound that is uniquely her own.
Deejay Kweizah
Deejay Kweizah is an international reggae and dancehall dj. From Nairobi, Kenya to now Scotland, the main vision and purpose of the Kweizah foundation is to completely transform the face of reggae music in Kenya, Africa and eventually around the globe: hence the slogan “Redefining character”.

Fingertraps
Fingertraps is an electrifying Edinburgh-based quartet! Blending Brazilian grooves with Neo Soul, Modern Jazz and Latin flavours with touches of R&B and D&B, the band delivers the hottest music to warm these cold lands! We’re also a growing collective, collaborating with powerful brass sections and explosive percusionists players to expand our sound even further. Born from diverse musical roots, we thrive on experimentation, bold soundscapes and high-energy live shows — from stages across Scotland and Northern England all the way to Mallorca. Two EPs out now (studio + live). Latest single “How Could I” brings bossa nova meets neo-soul vibes, while “Fuban Cunk” delivers a fiery Brazilian-Latin punch.

LikkLe bVnti is an Afrocentric music artiste, songwriter and record producer born and raised in Nigeria. He moved to Scotland in 2022 and has been active in the music scene in the UK since then. His raw vocal texture and his blend of Afro to any other sound makes him unique with amazing storytelling through his writing coupled with electrifying stage performances. He started music at a young age playing drums in the church choir where he developed a passion for singing, on top of rapping. Growing up in a household where all types of music were constantly being played, he learnt to accept other types of sounds and blend them, unconsciously creating his own unique sound from inspiration he gathered as he grew into his formative years. Over the years he has worked and collaborated with music artistes and producers like Ladipoe, Showdemcamp, Funbi, Spax, Ibiga, Deetunes, eXe, Mojeed and more!
Bemz
Awarded DJ Mag’s Breakthrough MC/Vocalist Best of British Award and named BBC Introducing’s first ever ‘Scottish Act of the Year,’ BEMZ is just getting started. Born in Nigeria, raised in South London, and later moving to Stranraer, Scotland, BEMZ discovered his voice in unexpected places. From freestyle sessions with his brother at 15 to studying sound production and releasing his SAY Award-nominated debut album Saint of Lost Causes in 2020, BEMZ’s journey highlights the expansive cultural reach of rap. Supported by outlets like Clash, The Skinny, and BBC platforms including Radio 1, 1Xtra, and 6 Music, his raw and emotionally charged music is strikingly honest. BEMZ has made the SAY Award shortlist, won the Scottish Music Awards ‘Sound of Scotland’ title, toured with The Snuts supported Example, CASISDEAD and Grandmaster Flash, headlined TRNSMT’s BBC Introducing Stage and headlined sold out shows at SWG3’s Warehouse and Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s. He’s also impressed with performances at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Tallinn Music Week, and festivals like Kelburn Garden Party and Youth Beatz. His EP Nova’s Dad revealed his introspective side, exploring themes of family and self-acceptance, while high energy tracks like G.O.M (Gyallie On Me) and Rowdy, a collaboration with Paisley’s Washington, showcase his evolving sound.

ISO YSO
DJ ISO YSO is a key player in Scotland’s hip hop and club scene. Inspired by the Soundcloud rap era, she boldly cuts across alt UK/US rap, electronic and dance genres, blending distortion, bass and bounce. Her work has been spotlighted by NTS and The Face magazine, with appearances at Riverside Festival, Kelburn and M4 events. ISO has opened for artists including Lancey Foux, Nia Archives, Jyoty, and Tiffany Calver, as well as performing for brands such as Bacardi and Glasgow’s JD x Nike launch. Known for her unapologetic presence, ISO returns to the Fringe for the second time.
