Be United Membership Terms
These Membership Terms (“Terms”) set out the terms applicable to membership with Be United. They should be read alongside our general Terms and Conditions, which also apply to your membership and are available on our Website.
Please ensure you read and understand these Terms carefully before proceeding.
If you are under 18 years old, please get a parent or guardian to read through these Terms and to discuss them with you.
1. Membership Tiers
Be United offers the following membership tiers:
(a) Artist Membership – for creatives seeking access to industry-specific training, networking, professional development, and creative opportunities.
(b) Individual Membership – for individuals who wish to support our mission and gain access to events, news, and member discounts.
(c) Business Membership – for organisations, businesses, and partners who wish to support Be United and collaborate through opportunities, events, or sector-specific engagement.
(d) Lifetime Membership – for members who wish to commit to long-term support for Be United. Lifetime Membership is available by arrangement only; individuals wishing to apply must contact Be United at [email protected].
2. Membership Fees, Duration and Renewal
2.1 Membership is valid for 12 calendar months from the date of acceptance or enrolment and will automatically renew unless cancelled in accordance with these Terms.
2.2 Lifetime Memberships are valid indefinitely, subject to these Terms.
2.3 Be United reserves the right to introduce or alter fees in connection with its membership fees. Members will be notified at least 30 days’ before any fee changes take effect.
2.4 Membership will automatically renew every 12 calendar months unless the member provides notice of cancellation in accordance with clause 7.5.2, Where notice is received less than 30 days before renewal, Be United reserves the right to process the renewal payment, but may, at its discretion, consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
3. Membership Benefits and Communications
3.1 Core Membership benefits may include:
- Be United newsletter
- Access to Be United opportunities
- Access to industry insights
- Exclusive member discounts
- Invitations to relevant events, workshops, or programmes
3.2 Be United reserves the right to alter, withdraw or introduce membership benefits at any time and without prior notice. Where reasonably possible, advance notice will be provided.
3.3 Individuals who subscribe to the Be United newsletter may be registered as free Members. Membership is optional, and subscribers may opt out at any time.
3.4 From time to time, members may be eligible to benefit from reciprocal arrangements with other organisations or business partners that share similar charitable aims, values, or goals. These arrangements are not guaranteed, and any access or benefits are subject to the conditions set by the participating organisations or partners. Members must comply with those conditions in order to benefit from any reciprocal rights.
3.5 Membership benefits are delivered primarily via email. Continued subscription to email communications is a fundamental requirement of membership.
4. Acceptance, Conduct and Termination
4.1 At its discretion, Be United reserves the right to refuse any application for membership.
4.2 Be United may suspend or terminate an existing membership if the member:
(a) is in breach of these Terms; or
(b) engages in conduct contrary to Be United’s values or policies.
4.3 Members must act consistently with Be United’s values of equity, empowerment, and excellence. Conduct deemed detrimental to Be United, its mission, staff, volunteers or other members (including harassment, discrimination, or behaviour contrary to these values) may result in suspension or termination of membership.
4.4 Be United reserves the right to suspend or terminate any Membership at its discretion. Membership rights and benefits will cease upon suspension or termination. No refunds will be issued except where required by law. Where reasonably possible, notice and reasons for suspension or termination will be provided.
4.5 In cases of serious misconduct, suspension or termination may take effect immediately and without prior notice.
4.6 For members who are also employees, contractors, or volunteers, Be United may apply relevant organisational policies outlined in staff handbooks or agreements when assessing conduct breaches.
4.7 Membership shall terminate automatically on the death of the member. No refunds or compensation shall be provided in the event of a member’s death except where required by law.
5. Cancelling Your Membership
5.1 Members may cancel their membership at any time by unsubscribing from communications or by contacting Be United directly through our [email protected].
5.2 Membership is primarily delivered through email communications. By unsubscribing from Be United emails, you acknowledge and agree that this will result in cancellation of your membership and loss of any associated benefits.
5.3 To prevent automatic renewal, cancellation requests (including unsubscribing) must be submitted at least 30 days before the renewal date. Membership rights and benefits will cease upon cancellation. No refunds will be provided except where required by law.
6. Gift Membership
6.1 Gift Membership may only be used by the named recipient.
6.2 The purchaser of a Gift Membership confirm that they have the consent of the recipient to provide their personal data to Be United.
7. Non-Transferability
Except in the case of Gift Membership, Membership is personal and may not be transferred or assigned to any other individual or organisation without prior written consent from Be United.
8. Relationship with General Terms
8.1 These Terms form part of Be United’s overall Terms and Conditions. By applying for or maintaining a Membership, you agree to be bound by both these Membership Terms and the full Terms and Conditions, which are available on our Website.
8.2 In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the general Terms and Conditions, the general Terms and Conditions will take precedence to the extent of that conflict.
