Be United Presents: Sunset Soirée – A Celebration of Emerging Scottish Talent

In affiliation with Fruitmarket, Be United Presents: Sunset Soirée is a stunning visual and musical experience which introduces the next wave of emerging diverse Scottish artists.

Sunset Soirée serves as the culmination event for Be United’s Producing the Future programme, where aspiring event producers, aged 18-25, hone their skills in event management by organising a spectacular Be United Presents event at Fruitmarket, Edinburgh.

The event line-up, presented by the young event organisers with the support of Be United, includes three extraordinary visual artists and two incredible Black music artists that are set to bring the audience an unforgettable evening of immersive and vibrant experiences.

Meet the Artists

Eyve’s music is a unique blend of hip hop, trap, jazz, and her African roots. She is committed to bringing authenticity and realness to her craft. Eyve writes songs based on her own life experiences, social and political issues. She is a passionate advocate for gender equality and inclusivity, particularly for women and non-binary individuals.

Viv Latifa is a singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress from Togo and Italy, based in Edinburgh. Over the past few years, she has made her mark on the Scottish music scene, collaborating with notable producers, sound engineers, instrumentalists, and other artists.

Gianni Esporas is an artist and writer currently based in Glasgow. Her practice stems from utilising hair as an abject material. When this component is extracted from the source, it generates questions around colonial hierarchies, the white gaze and postcolonial futures to the surface. She has previously shown work at Spectra Festival and Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival.

Introducing Thi Aalma, an Indian-born intermedial artist, poet, model, and forensic scientist based in Cambridge and Edinburgh. She’s making waves in the art scene with exhibits at The Spring Show 2024 and Print Makers Gallery. Catch her live poetry at The Captain’s Bar and open mic events. Her Wishing Tree installation sets the stage for her upcoming children’s book, poetry collection, and art, all aimed at inspiring hope and dreams in others.

Aurelie Chan Hon Sen is a creative practitioner and art facilitator, currently living and working between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Her practice is activated by connecting with the voices of creatives and communities who have shared experiences of living in a diaspora. She investigates decolonising strategies that manifest embodied forms of knowledge and language hybridity. This is expressed through objects, food, writing, illustrations, and collaborations.
