BE United recognises the need for greater commitment to diversity and inclusion in not only the arts and culture sector in Scotland but also the broader socio-economic institutions.
ABOUT BE UNITED
We stand out with a track record of continued engagement. We are a leading organisation with a good reputation since our inception in 2014. Our existence is rooted at the very heart of what is at stake when African/Caribbean voices are lost from the artistic/cultural/creative arena and the broader implications (social, economic, political, educational, vocational lives of community).
BE United is an arts and cultural organisation that advocates for, highlights, and celebrates African/Caribbean (Afrocentric) excellence in Scotland. We aim to be a creative, supportive and proactive platform that:
- Carves a distinct African-Caribbean space within Scottish social and cultural landscape.
- Is a voice speaking the language of the African-Caribbean community and an influencer within the Scottish cultural sector.
- Advocates for a community that sits at the margins of society – economically, culturally and politically;
- Educates and facilitates cross-cultural understanding and
- Inspires isolated members of the Afrocentric community to reconnect and be included in Scottish society.
OUR MISSION
To provide a platform/voice for Scotland’s Afrocentric community.
OUR VISION
To successfully curate and manage a thriving Afrocentric Arts and Cultural Hub – The BE Hive!
